Will You Get What You Want, or What You Deserve?

Throughout life everybody has a desire for more things, the desire to keep getting more than what they already have.

It might be a better house, a better car, more holidays, or more money, but whatever it is there’s usually an abundance of "wants" that we desire in our life.

How many times do you hear people say things like these?

"I want to lose weight"

"I want to be fit and healthy"

"I want a great looking body"

"I want to be a good runner"

I hear these things all the time, but how many times do these people actually get what they want? Well unfortunately it’s not very often.

Why is this? Why do we all want so much but often get very little?

The reason is that there’s a huge difference between what you want and what you deserve.

Most people that want to lose weight struggle to lose it or never lose it. They might want it really badly but they’re not doing enough to deserve it.

Most people that want to be fit and healthy, and have a great looking body are not prepared to improve their diet and exercise regularly for a sustained period.

Most people that want to be a good runner are not willing to run consistently enough or push themselves enough to get anything more than average results.

The truth is that it’s easy to want something. Anyone can do it. It takes no real time, effort, or commitment, but…

Wanting something doesn’t mean a thing, unless you’re willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen. If you’re not prepared to do that then you might as well try to forget about what you want and save yourself from the frustration of not getting it.

What it all comes down to is this…

You don’t get what you want in your life, you get what you deserve.

Having too much food or eating unhealthily leads to gaining weight and more health problems. On the other hand, looking after yourself and taking care of your body leads to a healthy weight and body.

Not doing any exercise leads to poor health and fitness, whereas doing plenty of exercise leads to much improved physical and mental health.

Doing the occasional run or only doing easy runs means slower improvements to your fitness and running ability. Pushing yourself makes you much fitter and healthier and helps you become the best runner you can be.

So the key here is to deserve what you want in your life because then you’re MUCH more likely to get it.

How to deserve what you want

To make sure that you deserve what you want and actually get it, there are some simple but important steps to follow…

Firstly you need to create the desire that will push you to take action. Think about all the ways your life will benefit when you get what you want. Start turning that "want" or "wish" into a burning desire and passion.

Then start immediately to work towards what you want. Set some clear goals so that you know exactly what you’re aiming for and by doing this you’ll be a lot more likely to actually get there.

Once you have some clear goals you then need a sound plan. A plan that’s realistic, challenging, and achievable. A plan that will motivate and excite you to get out of bed every day and keep working towards what you want.

After this you need to work towards your plan with determination and persistence. No easing off or quitting at the first sign of defeat, but instead saying…

"This is what I want and I’m determined to get it, no matter how hard it feels or how long it takes".

The hardest part of these steps is the "doing" part which is where most people fall down. This is where you need to be strong, keep going, and not settle for anything less than what you want.

What happens when you deserve what you want?

Deserving what you want does take some time and effort, commitment, and persistence, but it also provides big benefits to your life that easily outweigh these.

You have a choice…

You can have a want and desire that you never fulfil in your life. This is where you get the feeling that something is missing, that you could be doing more, and the frustration of not getting what you want.

Or you can deserve what you want and actually get it. Along with this you also get the sense of satisfaction and achievement, and the feeling of confidence knowing that you wanted a thing and went out and got it. You did it!

So whatever you want, whether it’s to lose weight, become fitter and healthier, have a great looking body, or become a good runner, make sure that YOU deserve it.

When you do this you’re much more likely to get what you want. Plus you get to experience all the other benefits you get from working towards something important to you and making it happen.
